My 2002 Chevy Avalanche recently lost power to the OBD2 port. A handheld programmer couldn’t connect either, indicating a power issue. This problem coincided with a blown fuse for the 12V power outlet. Replacing the fuse didn’t solve the OBD2 problem, and the new fuse blew as well. The culprit turned out to be a faulty outlet adapter; plugging my inverter directly into the power source resolved the outlet issue.
However, the OBD2 port remained powerless. Where is the OBD2 fuse located on a 2002 Avalanche?
Adding to the mystery, I discovered a mouse nest under the rear seat (folded up for passengers). The nest, built with Kleenex, contained deceased baby mice. I usually keep the rear seat folded down and the midgate open, so I’m unsure when this occurred. The mice likely entered through the bed drain holes.
Could the mice have chewed through wiring related to the OBD2 port? So far, the OBD2 power loss is the only issue I’ve encountered.
