Kenwood OBD2 Interface: Resolving Installation Glitches in a DDX9905S

After successfully installing a Kenwood DDX9905S head unit in place of a Uconnect 5″ unit, several functions worked flawlessly, including the rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, steering wheel controls, and park assist. The improved audio quality and speed compared to the OEM head unit were immediately noticeable. Before installation, the Maestro RR was flashed with the DDX9905S serial number, configured correctly, and wired to the Kenwood rear connector using a CH3X harness. The Kenwood firmware was also verified to be the latest version (V1_2_0009_1800).

However, some issues emerged post-installation. The system displayed an error message indicating a missing OBDII signal, preventing the display of engine and tire pressure information. This necessitates installing a Kenwood Obd2 Interface to provide the required data. Additionally, the factory GPS antenna connector was incompatible with the Kenwood head unit, requiring a different radio antenna adapter. Similarly, the microphone connection present on the OEM connector wasn’t routed to the Kenwood unit via the Maestro RR. Most concerning was the constantly blinking odometer, raising questions about the advertised compatibility of the Maestro RR.

Connecting a Kenwood OBD2 interface is the next step to address the missing engine and tire pressure data. Hopefully, this will resolve the issue and restore full functionality, avoiding the need to revert to the original head unit. Further troubleshooting will be required to address the GPS antenna, microphone connection, and the persistent odometer blinking issue.
