DAS Xentry Installation Guide 2015

Setting up DAS Xentry in 2015 requires specific steps and configurations. This guide provides a comprehensive walkthrough for a successful installation.

This guide outlines the necessary steps to install DAS Xentry on a Windows XP system. Proper hard drive partitioning, user account creation, and COM port configuration are crucial for a successful installation.

First, install Windows XP Service Pack 3 and create two administrator accounts: “OWNER” and “STAR.” Partition your hard drive as follows:

  • C: Minimum 15 GB free space (20 GB recommended)
  • D: Minimum 5 GB free space
  • E: Minimum 5 GB free space (20 GB recommended for WIS installation)
  • F: Minimum 20 GB free space

Use partitioning software like EASUS Partition Master Free or MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition to achieve this configuration, ensuring accurate drive letter assignments.

Next, set your system date to within one month of the STAR DVD release date. Run the prepare.bat file and follow its instructions. Insert the STAR DVD and launch G:\stardiag\setup.exe (assuming ‘G’ is your DVD drive letter). The installation might finish quickly, prompting a reboot. Restart your computer and relaunch the setup. If error -6003 appears, click “OK” to proceed.

If you need to reinstall DAS in a different language, do so before the next step. After a successful DAS installation, do not reboot immediately. Instead, run the after installation.bat file.

In the Control Panel, navigate to System > Hardware > Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT). Right-click your enabled COM port and select “Properties.” Under “Port Settings,” configure the following:

  • Bits per second: 115200
  • Data bits: 8
  • Parity: None
  • Stop bits: 1
  • Flow Control: None

In “Advanced,” ensure “Use FIFO buffers” is checked and “COM Port Number” is set to COM2. Click “OK” and close Device Manager.

Reboot your computer. If the STAR account is locked, try the password “User$star2004.” Alternatively, log in as “OWNER” and remove the STAR user’s password.

You might need to apply DAS fixes located in the “DAS fixes” folder. Additional software and information might be required, readily available online.

This guide provides a foundation for DAS Xentry installation in 2015. Following these steps carefully ensures a successful setup. Remember to consult online resources for additional support and troubleshooting.
